Houghton County Resolution #25-08
I want to applaud the Houghton County Commissioners that voted in favor of the resolution to fully fund Medicaid behavioral health programs. I have to say that I am horrified at the two Commissioners that voted Nay to the resolution that seeks to “Fully allocate Medicaid behavioral health funds to the state of Michigan in fiscal year 2025 and beyond.”
Should this funding be cut, there will be patients, caregivers, and family members living across the 110th District that will suffer as a result of their loss of coverage and availability to receive necessary and warranted medical care.
The poor and the vulnerable need grace. They are an easy target, and it is unjust that our federal government has chosen to target them in the name of federal budget cuts while it rewards the wealthy and well-resourced for being born wealthy and well-resourced.
